Infertility is defined in clinical terms as the inability to conceive over a 12-month period. Trouble conceiving can be emotionally devastating, and lead to anxiety, clinical depression and relationship problems. But there is hope. At the Monterey Birth and Wellness Center, we have decades of combined experience in fertility counseling, and a track record of success in addressing infertility issues.
The underlying causes of infertility lie with the male approximately 35% of the time, and with the female approximately 35% of the time. The remaining 30% of infertility problems defy explanation. A variety of factors can contribute to infertility. Common causes include:
· Blocked fallopian tubes
· Ovulation problems
· Unhealthy eggs
· Unhealthy sperm
· Low sperm count
· Hormonal imbalances
· Hormonal issues related to aging
· Unhealthy habits such as smoking or excessive alcohol use
· Environmental toxins
Sometimes there is no clear cause. But even then some fertility treatments can potentially resolve the issue. Methods include surgery, medication, natural remedies, dietary changes, lifestyle recommendations, or a combination of treatments. Other courses of action may include intrauterine insemination and/or hormonal treatments.
If infertility issues cannot be successfully treated, a surrogate is also an option. A surrogate is a woman who becomes pregnant with her own eggs and the provided sperm. Another option is a gestational carrier—a woman who carries the provided egg and sperm in her own uterus.
We welcome LGBTQI families, single parents by choice and those that are conceiving over the age of 35.
Insurance billing, payment plan and financing available.
Credit card and HSA card payments accepted.
